Frequently asked questions

Short answers about Heathen, the meditation app for atheists.

Is Heathen free?

Yes. Heathen is free to download and use, with no account required. An optional subscription unlocks additional content and supports continued development.

Do I need an account to use Heathen?

No. Heathen requires no account, login, email, or sign-up. You can open the app and start meditating immediately — all of your data stays on your device.

What makes Heathen different from Calm or Headspace?

Heathen is built specifically for atheists, agnostics, and freethinkers. There are no chakras, no energy fields, and no spiritual framing. The affirmations, quotes, and readings are grounded in reason, science, and secular philosophy rather than mysticism or religion.

What's inside the app?

366 daily quotes, 365 daily readings, 100 atheist-specific affirmations, and 28 guided meditations across seven categories — plus structured multi-day programs, a private journal with mood tracking, and ambient soundscapes.

Does Heathen collect or track my data?

No. Heathen does not use analytics or tracking SDKs, does not serve ads, and does not send your data to any server. Your journal, session history, and streak all stay on your device. See the privacy policy for details.

Is Heathen anti-religious?

Heathen is proudly secular and written for a non-religious audience. It's not designed to attack anyone, but it doesn't soften its point of view for broad appeal. If you want the gentle, universally inoffensive version, other meditation apps offer it. Heathen is for people who want the secular one.

What platforms is Heathen available on?

Heathen is available on iOS via the App Store.
